Just wanted to share with you that I recently got back from Alaska where I was able to harvest this 67” bull. It was a tough hunt (as all the good ones are) and I ended up only having a shooting window for one shot towards the last light of the day. I used my R8 30.06 with Hornady ELD bullets.I took my first shot, and he immediately bolted into some very thick stuff so never got a chance for a second shot. Very thin blood trail. It was almost dark and of course brown bears are a concern, so we didn’t push him. Went back to camp and came back first thing the next morning – found him about 15 minutes later dead about 200 yards from where I shot him. Thought you’d appreciate this “you only get one first shot” story.
