The training I received from SAAM, “because you only have one first shot”, worked like a charm. With my gun already set for the bullets I was using, the altitude and temperature, I got my one shot through the heart, instant kill. I memorized my special “Tajik” card and had all the calmness and confidence needed for that ethical shot.

I was really thankful for my SAAM training while on the Mongolia Ibex hunt recently. Who knew I’d have to tap into everything I learned and all my tools to pull this off. Altai ibex was steep down hill at 380 yards. The Gobi ibex was even tougher, extremely steep uphill shot was made at 500 yards! Seriously I nailed stuff I would have in the past been very unsure of! We followed the bulls for a little over a mile and I couldn’t lay down because of how steep and brushy the hillside was. I shot him leaning on that branch with my dad calling ranges as they walked away. I took my shot just as the bulls stopped to look back.
